Wood Specialties

I reached out to Wood Specialties via Yelp messages for a quote and was advised to call in. I did so on a Monday and set up an in-home visit for a price estimate. We were scheduled for Wednesday morning. Deb called me Wednesday morning and let me know she was having car troubles and couldn't come. We rescheduled for Friday morning at 10:00. Deb called me Thursday evening to let me know her washer repairman didn't come that day and she would have to now cancel my Friday morning appointment to wait for her washer repairman in addition to her husband having a doctor appointment. It's clear this company either a) doesn't have the time for new clients b) doesn't understand customer service or c) truly doesn't want new business. Unfortunate!

I took my kitchen cupboards to have the centers cut out to have glass installed. The turnaround was a week. The centers were cut out and routed so that glass could be installed. Deb is working on getting glass quotes for me. They do excellent work. I highly recommend them for this type of a project. I posted a before and after picture. The white on the cupboards was my attempt to paint them - epic fail. A company will be painting these before the glass is installed.

I cannot say enough good things about Deb and Tom's work! They created our kitchen back in 1999, and the cherry wood cabinets still look gorgeous. They also built our bathroom and laundry room maple wood cabinets, and they are still beautiful. Recently, I noticed a couple of the kitchen drawer fronts had become scratched around the drawer pulls because the beautiful but impractical drawer pulls I installed did not leave enough room for my fingers and my nails kept scraping the finish.

I changed the drawer pulls and decided to have the fronts refinished, so I called Deb. The refinishing company she recommended (which was excellent, by the way) needed the stain formula that she used, and to my astonishment, Deb had the exact colors and proportions in her files - 20 years later! The drawer fronts turned out perfect, and my kitchen looks brand new again. Deb and Tom also built a hidden door to our attic for us, something they had never done before.

When we show it to our friends, they are amazed and had no idea it was a door. If you have an unusual woodworking need or just want the best cabinets in the world, Wood Specialties is the place to call.

Several months ago we wanted a built in cabinet in our family room. A quote from a national franchise firm was based on remade designs and just didn't seem quite right for our house. Deb at Wood Specialties took our ideas and designed a custom cabinet that fit the decor perfectly at a price only slightly higher than the pre-made unit. She had a couple of suggestions for improvement on our original design that improved the final product immensely. Delivery and price were as agreed when we started. They are certainly on our list to use again when the need arises.

Highly recommend Wood Specialties for any cabinet job. On a budget Deb worked with me to get my kitchen cupboards updated. She always was easily contacted, she always showed up when she said and delivered right on time. She measured perfectly. A few hiccups, but was immediately addressed to perfection. She did not try to oversell. She did exactly what I wanted. They are a great company to take care of very small fixes as well. Family owned and operated, personable, fair pricing, reliable. They are the best.

We purchased a repossessed RV that was missing two drawers; replacements were not available anymore from the manufacturer. I took one of the remaining drawers to use as a sample to Deb at Wood Specialties, who was a pleasure to work with. When I picked up the finished drawers I was very impressed by the quality work and craftsmanship--when hubby saw them he remarked "wow, these are much better than the original!" Thanks Deb and crew for providing us with an exceptional finished product!
