We had a great experience! Because of Covid and supply chain issues it took 7 months for our fridge/freezer to be delivered. During that wait they gave us a loaner - free! Our old fridge/freezer had died. When the new fridge/freezer finally arrived they gave us a date for delivery, and confirmed the prior day. They were careful about floors, etc. with the installation.
The delivery guys were great. Our phone contact with the office was very efficient. Our daughter is planning a major kitchen redo in about 12 months and she'll be going to Atherton Appliances.

Too big for their britches is all I can say. Six months ago they installed a new dishwasher. The installer claimed one of the two braces were missing (we think perhaps he broke it) and that he would have to order us a new one. He didn't. I've called 4 times since then, the first 3 times it was like a new call and "someone would get right back to me".
Of course they never did. On the last call they assured me it had been ordered. Nope. No sign of the part, no sign of Atherton Appliances. Ghosted. Really wish I'd used anyone else.

We ordered a wolf range, got it immediately (that should have been a clue) nothing but problem, of course Atherton appliances wanted to have nothing to do with us except asking for the balance of what we owed, we refuse to pay the balance until we get a working stove and they left us a massage that pretty much said we delivered and you pay or we report you yo collection agency. they were not concerned about defective range they delivered.
After two and half months with many wolf technician came and gone, finally wolf appliances took the range back. Atherton appliances kept calling us regarding the balance only. horrible service. After wolf appliances people took the defective stove out of our house, Atherton appliances did not gave us all our money back with no explanation, no matter how many times we called and emailed them, no respond from Atherton appliances finally we had to contact wolf appliances and they send us a check for the remaining balance. Do not bother with this company,

In 2018, I purchased a refrigerator from Atherton Appliance & Kitchens, and at the time, they sold me on an extended warranty serviced by New Leaf Service Contracts, Inc. The fridge turned out to be a lemon. It began with the freezer not working. Over the next year and a half, New Leaf's subcontractors repeatedly failed to repair the unit. When it became obvious the unit needed to be replaced, they kept giving me the runaround.
Ultimately they offered a payout that would only cover a fraction of the refrigerator. Atherton Appliance stepped in and did the right thing, replacing the fridge themselves at a loss. While the ordeal was tiring (entirely due to New Leaf), it all worked out in the end, and I can wholeheartedly recommend Atherton Appliance in the future.

So we bought our whole kitchen from ATHERTON Appliance some time ago, and we have been happy until our kitchen cabinets started to show some wear and tear. The brand DuraSupreme is no longer being sold there, so they want nothing to do with our request for a referral to have someone refinish our cabinets. Their customer service is only designed if you're spending a lot of money versus maintaining a relationship for future business. Guess we won't be returning to spend another 60k anytime soon.

Thanks for wasting my time. The company's website will actually let you order and purchase appliances they will not deliver. After you order and purchase the appliance they send you an email saying they will contact you by phone, however they do not. When you call them for a delivery date they act like you are crazy because you scheduled a delivery.
Then if you explain maybe your website should not let you purchase and order appliances that they have no intention of delivering they dismissively say thanks have a good day and hang up. Thanks for the pitiful customer service is more like it.

We ordered a high end fridge with plans for delivery by this week. Delivery estimate has been delayed. The sales rep doesn't have the decency to contact us directly as promised. The delivery service contacts about the 3 week delay. Now we are scrambling to figure out what to do for Thanksgiving. Have been disappointed with the level of service from the start. Attempts to contact sales manager to give feedback are blocked by the sales people on the phones. Resorted to writing a review.

Writing this review on behalf of my parents. Exactly 11 months ago they purchased a Hestan Refrigerator with hefty price tag of $15k. Exactly a month ago, they noticed water dripping from their refrigerator and freezer area. They immediately called Atherton Appliance only to receive horrible customer service, their sales manager Mike specifically said "what are we supposed to do about it?" Of course, taking zero responsibility even though the refrigerator is still under warranty.
We then contacted Hestan who sent out two wonderful representatives to help us with the repair. The two representatives from Hestan told us that the installation was incorrect and faulty. At this current time, we have received zero help or follow up from Atherton Appliances. They have made it very clear that after they receive their money, and install the appliance, they will wipe their hands of the deal. They have zero customer service and after reading the reviews, apparently no client retention. If you are in the market for a high end appliance, I would look elsewhere.

Desperate for a freezer, I called around everywhere only to find out they are back ordered everywhere And some places wouldn't even take my order because delivery wouldn't come until the fall. I had just about given up when I called Atherton in Redwood City And spoke to Mike Placido. Within minutes, literally minutes, he found and sold to me an upright freezer that met all of my needs. Originally, he told me it would not be able to be delivered until the 1st or 2nd weekbof May, which was already better than any other option (because I didn't have any!).So I purchased the freezer, then received a call later on from Mike himself telling me the good news that the delivery was moved up to next week!
No price gouging, no haggling, an absolutely remarkable transaction in this day and age when almost everything is impossible to find. Thank you so much for helping to relieve some of the overwhelming stress of the times. I would highly recommend the store and especially Mike!

I bought a number of appliances (very high end) at Atherton Appliance. My experience with the shop varied by who you spoke to and covered your account. Unfortunately, I ended up with a bad representative who is unpleasant and never seems happy to meet you or answer questions. However, Mark saved the day. Helped me out all the time. Try to interact with Mark when possible as he really cares about all customers, even if he does not formally cover your account. Shall ask for him next time.

Brand new BLUESTAR double oven installed in June 2019. Both ovens now not working due to defective fans. We've been without an oven since Dec 30, 2019. It's now February 2, 2020. We've been crockpotting and doing stovetop but the lack of empathy from these 2 companies is unacceptable. The last month has been constant emails bacand forth with BLUESTAR direct and with our local appliance company, Atherton Appliance. Nothing! Fed up to say the least. Responding to Tom P from Atherton Appliance: Thank you for your response. It's now Feb 20 and still no resolve.
If BLUESTAR has such bad service policies when items are under warranty, why are you still selling their brand? At some point the store where you purchase the high priced, gourmet and luxury appliances needs to advocate for their clients!

If I could put zero stars, I would. I moved into a brand new house with all new appliances that were purchased from Atherton Appliance. EVERY APPLIANCE HAS AN ISSUE. 1-Subzero fridge - broken door and doors not aligned 2-Wolf Stove - installed incorrectly, broken thermostats 3-Cove Dishwasher - installed incorrectly, needs new "brain" and values. 4-Bosch Dryer - doesn't dry clothes, keeps them nice and damp. Just go to Best Buy, you will have better luck and service.

We bought all of our appliances from Atherton Appliance when we built our new home less than 2 years ago. Not only was the customer service awful when we had issues with a number of items from when they were first installed. but in the last two years almost half of the "high end" products that they sold us and were happy to recommend, have been faulty and we have had to pour a lot more money in and countless hours to deal with repairs.
All the while, Atherton Appliance just told us that it wasn't their problem and we needed to deal directly with the manufacturer. Today I had to call @ElectroluxUS and sit on hold for almost an hour just to have them tell me that the even though we did nothing wrong, sometimes their washers (model #EFLS617STT0) just don't drain properly and therefore start growing black mold. I have tried all sorts of "home remedies" but ultimately their best advice was just to buy a replacement at my own expense. Lovely. What happened to customer service?

Purchased an appliance online. Tried to pay for online but web site wouldn't take a payment. Called the next day to insure product was available and the condition. Paid for item. Had given shipping details when I ordered. Two week goes by and I get call asking me when I was going to pick up! I told them my purchase for the item was to be shipped to me.
They tell the item cannot be shipped and that they have sold the item right out from under me even though I confirmed I would make arrangements to pick it up! Slimy sales tactic Miss lead from the beginning Offered me no resolution or option TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION LIES AND CORRECT SALES TACTICS WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU NEVER STEP INTO THEIR BUSINESS OR DEAL WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT A CORRUPT EXPERIENCE Had I known that I would have to pick up I would've never bought it.

I called to get pricing on a cooktop and spoke with Sammy. She gave me a price and sent a quote. I start filling out their paperwork and I get a follow up email saying they won't honor the quote saying it was the wrong part number. That's not true. I have the quote, with the correct part number AND the price we agreed on and they simply decided they didn't want to honor it. I even called and spoke with a manager, Mike, and he would not honor the quote either. This is a very dishonest business and I recommend staying FAR away!

Normally I would give them high marks, but the sales person would not allow me to even purchase an extended warranty on a Subzero fridge, which Subzero even said I could purchase, but it had to be through Atherton appliance. So now I would urge caution when buying through them. The sales people are just about selling more units and not customer service.

Mark at Atherton Appliance helped me AGAIN! My extended warranty company would NOT remove and reinstall my failed Electrolux Dryer. I could not get anyone to help me. I called Mark and explained my dilemma. I asked if his service company could remove my stackable dryer ( in a closet - tight fitting area ). He did not hesitate. Mark made arrangements to remove the unit and then again to reinstall after it was repaired. AND - Mark would not take payment. This is above and beyond customer service. This is Atherton Appliance & Kitchens customer service. WOW! Thank you so much!

Showroom staff was very knowledgeable. Pre site inspection went off without a hitch. I can't give five stars for two reasons. My follow up email regarding also replacing a microwave was not responded to in a timely manner - not until it was too late to bundle the installation. Also, the install team had hit major complications at their previous install, causing them to arrive a half hour after their designated window. Once on site they did an amazing job and were complete professionals - five stars for the guys.

I was hesitant to go to Atherton Appliance to purchase our new dishwasher because I thought it would be expensive. After spending hours online, going to Home Depot & Lowes and getting totally overwhelmed with choices, we visited the Atherton Appliance showroom. Oscar greeted us at the door and told us everything we need to know about dishwashers. He was like a walking Consumer Reports.
Everything at Atherton Appliance is top of the line but they can order you appliances that are less expensive if that is what you choose. There is a reason appliances are cheaper at Home Depot and Lowes. You get absolutely no help when you go there. We ended up buying a dishwasher on the spot from Oscar and were happy with the price we paid. We would have also been OK with paying a bit more because Oscar's help was truly priceless.

I have written only a handful of reviews in my life. When either the service was so extraordinary that it necessitated acknowledgement and when the service is so horrific that others must be made aware. Unfortunately, this falls into the latter category. Our initial experience with Atherton Appliance was fantastic. The show room is absolutely beautiful.
The staff who assisted us was equally wonderful. They were knowledgable and helpful in comparing products without being pushy. We subsequently purchased over $35,000 in kitchen and other appliances for an extensive remodel. We were and are thrilled with our purchases. Unfortunately, there needs to be service after the sale. We choose to have Atherton Appliance do the installation because it added a year to the warranty.
This is where the story becomes an incredible nightmare. Trying to get them to schedule and work with us on the instillation was insane. We purchased the products in June and planned installation for October. They could not work with our contractor to coordinate. They would NOT RETURN CALLS. They attempted to delay installation by over 2 weeks despite multiple calls.
Our contractor ultimately picked up the appliances and did the installation to keep the project on time. We paid Atherton over $2,500 for instillation in advance to install all of the purchased appliances. The contractor performed the instillation in late October. We have been trying to get a refund on the $2,500 in instillation charges paid up front and to date been unsuccessful. Calls are not returned. Management's attempts to discuss have been untimely, rude and unsuccessful.
This is NOT THE LEVEL OF SERVICE one expects from a high end luxury applaince retailer. I continue to be shocked by their response and lack of interest in resolution. We, our contractor, our remodeling friends, nor anyone with expectations of quality service should consider purchasing their appliances through them. There any several other quality retailers in the Bay Area. Sincerely, Doug H

We bought our sub-zero from this place and thought their service was excellent. The owner Tom also helped us secure $1800+ in rebates that other dealers were not able to help with. Plus this place also had recommendations for a carpenter that helped us modify our cabinets. I would definitely do business with them in the future.

Atherton Appliances: A cautionary tale. I purchased a fridge and wine cooler from Atherton. They did the delivery and installation in September, 2013. The fridge is a big Sub-Zero 36" built-in french door with lower freezer. It will be referred to as, "The Beast". The Beast weighs 526 lb empty. I live in California. We have earthquakes. Big heavy things are prone to crush one dead when they tip over during an earthquake.
I recently had to have The Beast removed due to water damage completely unrelated to The Beast. I had some other factory certified installers (who are fantastic, see my other review) pull it out. Here's the thing about Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero customers tend to be happy customers who will occasionally buy another Sub-Zero when they run out of room for Perrier and Foie Gras, need to properly outfit the guest house, or need more space for their growing wine collection.
In order to reduce the chances of their fine, heavy, appliances tipping over and crushing their happy customers, therefore impacting repeat business, Sub-Zero designed a clever anti-tip system into their built-in fridges. This involves a pair of metal brackets that the installer is to properly place and firmly secured to the wall or floor behind the fridge.
When The Big One hits these brackets help prevent the fridge from tipping or waking out of the cabinet, crushing otherwise happy customers. They also serve the dual purpose of keeping the fridge from toppling over if moulding that the fridge is attached to breaks during normal use. Upon removal of The Beast my competent installers pointed out that my original, factory certified, installers (Atherton) not only installed the brackets in the wrong place (such they they wouldn't do anything to prevent tipping) they also screwed it into the drywall instead of a stud.
I was able to easily pull the brackets out with just my hands. I've uploaded a photo of how they did it. (update 7/21/14: The photos were flagged and removed for not being, "broadly representative of the business.") The installation instructions are very clear and easy to follow. You can download them yourself from Sub-Zero. The most important feature of your fancy-pants appliance (the one that keeps it from killing you) is the thing they got wrong. You'll probably never know it until it's too late.
This is the stuff tragedy and expensive lawsuits are made of. Moral of the story: Do not buy built-in appliances from Atherton. If you do, then read and understand the installation instructions and make sure the installer follows them to the letter. If they've installed a built-in you should remove the toe kick and carefully inspect the location and attachment mechanism of those brackets to make sure they didn't mess it up for you, too.
