PREP Kitchen Essentials is a cooking school and retail store located in lovely Seal Beach, California. Our small, family-owned, community-oriented business thrives on culinary education, human connection, and the love of everything food. We carry high-quality kitchenwares and offer a wide range of top-rated, hands-on cooking classes for novice and experienced cooks alike.
We approach corporate team building from the premise that good food inevitably brings out the best in people. Generally designed to be "hands-on" and participatory, everyone will break into teams to make several recipes on the menu. Embodying the fact teamwork, coordination, and cooperation are the keys to success at work and in the kitchen.
Students prepare all recipes listed on the class menu from scratch. After the work is done, tables are cleared and everyone sits down to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Bring an apron and an appetite, we've got the rest! In addition to our single cooking classes, check out our great roster of multi-part series classes where students learn everything from Cooking Basics to Cooking Like the Pros.
PREP has developed multi-week courses to develop students looking for a deeper exploration of gastronomy and culinary technique. Check back often as we're always adding new and exciting ways to educate and inspire! Our newest addition designed with college-bounds in mind. In this series, students will learn the must-have kitchen basics to ensure they're eating well once they've left the nest. Chef Whitt has developed easy, healthy(ish), and affordable meals that don't require gourmet kitchens or equipment.

Had an amaaazing experience learning to make sushi! It was so much fun and delicious! 10/10 would try another class again. Also, the staff was so thoughtful and kind, very patient with my adhd brain. If you're looking for a fun date idea, activity with the family or just to learn something new! Highly recommend!

We had such a fun time at PREP! I had no idea this little gem was right around the corner. We took a Cinco De Mayo cooking class and had an absolute blast! The food was delicious and plentiful. They even have wine and beer! We went home with full bellies and recipes and memories to last! We made new friends too. If you're looking for something fun to do instead of going to the movies or out to dinner definitely give this a try!
I think this would make a super cool and unique gift for people too, thinking engagement, newlyweds, anniversary for mom and dad, hosting a bridal shower, work event, or any occasion really!

The class was great! However, after we were all packing up the leftovers of what we cooked to take home. the helper said we weren't allowed to take it home. (Im sorry but for $90/class you bet I'm taking the left overs home). They gave me 2 small to-go cups with no lids to take the pasta home in. then as I was filling them up they started to take away the pasta (that I made).
I let them know, "Oh I'm not done". He responds with "You are now." If that wasn't enough I over heard them say they were planning on eating it after everyone left, which explains why they were rude about not giving left overs. I think if you are going to charge people top dollar to cook food you need to treat them like guests not thefts. Don't waste your money or your time.

A wine pairing class where 17 people had to share one bottle of each wine? A maximum of 12 per class but 17 in attendance and they refuse to give me a refund for a late cancellation because they could have filled the class? They clearly over-filled the class. Barely enough food for everyone and that is after I paid full price for an extra person who was not in attendance.
The chef's are great, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Rude at best. Enjoyed my first class. Satisfied with my second but don't think I will be back again.
