Ideal Cabinets began back in 1970 in Christiansburg, Virginia, because Ken Rakes wanted to take care of his family. He decided that he could do that by selling a quality cabinet product to other people for their families; and that is how a family business with the purpose of making other families happy was born.

Ideal Cabinets offers a wide range of cabinetry, countertops, hardware, and other products for both residential and commercial projects. Residentially, we offer a wide range of fully custom and semi-custom cabinets from some of the best cabinet makers in the business, including Elmwood fine custom cabinetry, Plain & Fancy, and Seville.
We offer many residential cabinetry services. Whether you are working with a contractor, or doing the work yourself, we can help you with all your cabinetry needs. Absolutely thrilled by our experience with Ideal. After a nightmare of an experience trying to have countertops replaced by Lowe's (10 months, two incorrect orders, three staff turnovers, etc), we cancelled our project with them and turned to Ideal for custom granite countertops. We had an estimate within a day of calling the store, a quote later that week, and contract within another day, and had our template and installation scheduled immediately after- all told, we had our new countertops completely done start-to-finish within one month.
We were able to select our installation dates exactly to match our vacation (granite fabricated while we were out of town), and everything went according to plan. Jeff did some minor cabinet work to get things ready, and he was easy to work with and efficient at his job. Stone dynamics made the tops and did the installation, and we were happy with their service throughout.
The absolute star of the project, however, was our sales person/designer, Adriana! She was the most communicative, helpful, and friendly person to work with. She did everything she said she would do, she was on-time, and she was excellent in her communication along the way. It was such a breath of fresh air to work with her after having Lowe's fail to answer the phone or respond to emails for weeks on end. I cannot recommend Ideal Cabinets enough!

I was on interstate today, being tailgated by employees of this company. They tailgated all the way from Christiansburg to Salem, where they cut right in front of me, nearly causing a wreck. I beeped my horn at them, to which both the driver and the passenger flipped me off. If they do business the way their employees conduct themselves, then I don't want anything to do with them. How employees behave while driving a can representing your company, can be detrimental to your reputation.

Keith at the Christiansburg location helped us have the best possible experience while upgrading our kitchen after an insurance claim. He came out to the house and took the time to understand what vision we had for the space. He then worked within our budget to provide the best kitchen option. The installers that they used for the cabinets and countertop were top notch and everything was done within the timeline that was originally discussed. I am very pleased with my experience and would recommend Ideal to anyone looking to remodel their kitchen at any price point.

These guys are great. Excellent customer service and professionalism and beautiful product. Dean worked with us patiently as we changed our mind about most every detail. He worked with other contractors to be sure our kitchen cabinets, drywall, tile, new lights and sink and stove. EVERYTHING was installed and then even came back to add a towel rack under the sink. We love our newly remodeled kitchen and highly recommend Ideal Cabinets.
