Our delicious Tamale Kitchen tamales are hand-made in Colorado using an old family recipe that has been our family for generations. Our tamales come in red, spicy green chile or veggie flavors, filled with our secret recipe seasoned meat, wrapped in corn masa, then finally steamed to delicious mouth watering perfection. We began by selling tamales door to door in 1980 and openend up the first Tamale Kitchen in Lakewood in 1981. It is an old family recipe that has been handed down from our late grandparents, Jose and Aurora Lujan.

This has been my go to place for burritos for about 7-8 years, fortunately it was a small and otherwise unknown place that no one really knew about; my get away. I went to college and came back and now it's filled with high schoolers who have found the hidden gem, so here I am, boosting this business in hopes they build more locations. I have traveled the world, ate many burritos.
But at the end of the day, I know where my loyalty lies. Tamale Kitchen is quite simply the gold standard for burritos, burritos so good you don't even want to try anything else on the menu. God bless.

The drive-through wait times at this location are ridiculous. I waited about 14 minutes for a burrito and one chili relleno. And as you know if you have ever eaten at Tamale Kitchen, waiting 14 minutes for salty, kind of bland, greasy Mexican food is really not a wise decision on anybody's part. Somehow I managed to eat it Tamale Kitchen about once every two or three years.
I always regret it the next day. This location is also overpriced. The prices are higher here than at all the other Tamale Kitchen's that I have been to. At this location, one crispy Chile relleno and one egg & bean special burrito was nine dollars. That's ridiculous. I definitely won't be back to this one. I'll make the trek down to 58th and Washington or somewhere else If I want some overly salty, budget Mexican food from Tamale Kitchen.

I love Tamale Kitchen! I always enjoy their hot fresh food. Today is the last time I'll be able to eat here for a while, due to moving. This is such a good restaurant, I had to get some first. Perfect 5 stars from me. Fast Friendly Terrific prices (and discount days, Tamale Tuesdays.92 cents ) Hot, hot fresh food Large diverse menu

Hadn't been to Tamale Kitchen (usually it as the location on Kipling and Bellview), until today! I visited the Quebec and University location. It did not disappoint in the way that only Tamale kitchen can! [Yes the flavor is great for most things. I say this because I was born eating this type of cuisine everyday. Nothing compares with home cooking.] When I say they did not disappoint it is in a completely facetious manner.
I hadn't been because1) the takeout containers at the time I was a fairly regular customer ALWAYS spilled out into the bag. I had 1/2 the sauce/chile ended up in the bottom of the bag. 2) The persons who work the counter I have felt have always been on the churlish side and today was no different. It's like they send all their employees to a trainer who may be of the same ilk.
I always thought it was the way I set the bag in my car although only TK takeout has ever been spilled over. I took to keeping a box in my car to level out the things I carried strictly from Tamale Kitchen. What do you know. This location put the food in a Styrofoam container. I was careful how I drove around the corner from their store and where I placed the bag on the floor in the box. Once again I arrived around the corner to a bag full of smothering. Very disappointed.

Forgot to give us the tamales in our take out order. Found out when we got home so I called them to remind them to have them ready for me so I can come back and pick them up. It kept going to voicemail so I ended up just driving there instead. Only problem is that they were closed at 4:15 pm on a Monday. When their sign clearly says open till 7:50 pm.

Tried to call in an order a few times this week, but no one answers the phone. Stopped by today to place an order and mentioned the phone issue. They said they don't answer when busy or take messages. I sincerely offered a few suggestions for customer convenience but they rudely told me that they were doing fine and did not need any changes. Well, I won't be back.

Beware, not all Tamale Kitchens are the same. Several things I would like to point out: For $5 I was able to order ONE Egg, Potato, Bacon, Cheese "Special"(w/Green Chili inside) Extra Hot Burrito. This is where things are financially different; at the Northglenn location I can get TWO of the same aforementioned burritos for the same price, $5. Okay I get it, charge more if you can get it.
But this is where things are really different, the food itself. I will give it to the HR location, their burritos are significantly larger, but they are all filler Potato, you easily get lost in the amount of potato inside of this burrito. Whereas the NOrthglenn location serves a smaller burrito, it is filled with the good stuff; more egg, more chili, more bacon and less of the filler potato. I wont be going back to the HR location unless I am desperate or craving a large expensive Potato burrito.

This is a solid spot that it's in my dinner rotation when I don't know what to eat. The food is nothing to write home about but not bad at all. The thing that keeps it in my rotation is their family meals. I typical get the family pack #2 this includes six tacos, six tamales, a pint of beans, a pint of rice, six tortillas, a pint of chile, and a 2-liter of coke all for $33! It's a great deal. Also, I would recommend the red chile tamales normally I prefer green chile but here I think the red chile is much more flavorful.

Literally do not know what's not to like. If you're coming here for a cute atmosphere, date night, or for exceptional service, look elsewhere. If you are coming here for great tamales, tacos, etc, you've come to the right place. The prices are fair, the beans are the best ever, and the breakfast burritos are to die for. My go to is an egg, potato, bean burrito special (chili inside rather than on top) without cheese and with pico.
Their pico might be the best I have ever had and I could eat it on its own. I have never had a bad meal at any of the TK locations and I've been at least 100 times. Literally. In short, I would continue to be a repeat customer and would recommend it to others.

Never again! I recently decided to try this place yet again, even though they have been sliding down the slippery slope. I stopped in to order food to go and the man taking my order was SO RUDE and curt with me I told him to forget it and told him I wouldn't spend my money at a place that treated their customers in such a manner, and I told him just how rude he was. The place was empty. The people running this place need to realize you make money with REPEAT customers and I for one will never return.

I'm only here for the breakfast burritos, so if you're looking for info on their tamales, please skip on over to another review. At least once a week at work someone will deem any given day to be "burrito day" and this is immediately followed by a couple of venmo transactions and a trip to Tamale Kitchen. Super close to my job and they are QUICK with these burrito orders.
A bacon, egg, potato special burrito (special = chili and cheese inside) is cheap, delicious, and HEFTY. Not sure where they get their bacon from, but they are thick ol' pieces and SO good. They have a pretty extensive menu, so I'm sure they have quite a few other yummy things here. But that burrito - you can't go wrong.

This place is so so. Customer service is always stiff, never friendly. They give zero salsas with food purchase, tiny tiny cups cost 25cents. My food here is ALWAYS Luke warm, even cold. I've only been a few times but afternoon or morning: it's always cool. This morning I stopped by for a breakfast burrito and the inside was so cool it couldn't even melt the cheese I added to its insides. : yuck. Frankly this place comes off very miserly with questionable quality.
They put nothing but potato and egg plus meat in the burritos. No cheese, sour cream or salsa. No salsas are included on the side, as I mentioned. There are signs instructing customers not to take drinks, not a common thing anyway. And lastly the dark haired cook gets reeeeeally sweaty as he's leaning over the food, cooking it. He needs a bandana or something, it's drippy and the reason I won't be back.
